Macon Lemon Law protects consumers from being stuck with unreliable cars that can’t be fixed under warranty.
Georgia law requires manufacturers to repair, replace, or repurchase defective vehicles — and in some cases, provide financial compensation. Understanding Macon Lemon Law
The Macon Lemon Law was designed to help drivers who purchased or leased cars that don’t meet basic standards of reliability. If your vehicle continues to experience defects that affect safety, usability, or value, you may qualify for:
- A replacement vehicle of equal value
- A complete refund of your purchase, including taxes and fees
- A financial settlement for diminished value
- Attorney’s fees covered by the manufacturer if you win
No out-of-pocket costs for you.
What Vehicles Are Covered?
Macon Lemon Law protections include:
- New or leased passenger vehicles for personal use
- Cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, and motorcycles
- Claims made within 24 months of delivery or before 24,000 miles (Georgia-specific requirement)
- Vehicles with multiple failed repair attempts or more than 30 cumulative days out of service
- Certain small business vehicles under state weight restrictions
Not Covered: Used cars sold “as-is,” off-road vehicles, or vehicles that have been significantly modified.

Common Defects Under Macon Lemon Law
Issues that often qualify as lemons include:
• Engine stalling, overheating, or failure
• Steering or brake malfunctions
• Electrical system issues (battery, dashboard lights, wiring)
• Heating or A/C not working
