Reno Lemon Law protects consumers from being stuck with vehicles that can’t be properly repaired.
Under Nevada law, manufacturers are required to fix, replace, or repurchase vehicles that have significant recurring defects — often with compensation for your trouble. Understanding Reno Lemon Law
The Reno Lemon Law was designed to protect car owners who purchase or lease vehicles that don’t live up to reliability and safety expectations. If your vehicle has repeated defects that affect its use, safety, or value, you may qualify for:
- A replacement vehicle of equal value
- A full refund including taxes, registration, and fees
- A financial settlement for diminished value
- Attorney’s fees covered by the manufacturer if you win
You won’t pay out-of-pocket for our services.
What Vehicles Are Covered?
Reno Lemon Law applies to:
- New or leased passenger vehicles used for personal or household purposes
- Cars, SUVs, trucks, and vans
- Claims made within 1 year after delivery or before the vehicle reaches the manufacturer’s warranty limit (Nevada law)
- Vehicles with 4 or more failed repair attempts, or 30+ total days out of service
- Certain small business vehicles meeting state criteria
Not Covered: Used vehicles sold “as-is,” off-road vehicles, or heavily modified vehicles.
Do I Qualify for a Reno Lemon Law Claim?
You may qualify if:
- The defect affects the vehicle’s safety, use, or resale value
- The issue remains unresolved after 4 or more repair attempts
- Your car was out of service for 30 or more cumulative days
- The problem was reported within Nevada’s legal timeframe

Common Defects Under Reno Lemon Law
Issues that may qualify as lemons include:
- Engine stalling, overheating, or power loss
- Transmission hesitation or hard shifting
- Brake system failures or steering malfunctions
- Electrical system defects (battery, dashboard lights, wiring)
- HVAC system breakdowns (no heating or cooling)
- Persistent fluid leaks (oil, fuel, or coolant)
If these issues continue despite repair attempts, your car may meet Nevada’s Lemon Law standards.
Reno Lemon Law and Used Cars
Nevada Lemon Law primarily covers new vehicles, but some used cars may qualify if:
- The defect arose during the original manufacturer’s warranty
- It occurred within the first year or before major warranty expiration
- The manufacturer was given a reasonable chance to repair it
